Alan Highers on the Restoration Principle

Written by Drew on October 10th, 2005

“This principle called for us to speak where the Bible speaks and to be silent where the Bible is silent. the restoration principle motivated individuals to forsake sectarian names and creeds, denominational doctrines and dogmas, and to return to the scriptures as our guide. Our plea was not for the reformation of corrupt religious systems but for the restoration of New Testament Christianity. People were not asked to return to Rome or to Constantinople but to Jerusalem. The New Testament was our pattern for the church, and the proclamation of the word of God led to the same results that transpired on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2. ‘Then they that gladly received his word were baptized’ (Acts 2:41).”
